Ecuador's government will continue plans to develop a deepwater port in Manta, in spite of problems with previous concessionaire TIDE, controlled by Hong Kong-based Hutchison Port Holdings, Business News Americas reported.

Authorities will transfer the concession to a new company which will mean calling a new international tender.

Since the port has been managed by Manta port authority revenues have improved considerably.
