Adriatic Lines has launched the only freight-dedicated service between Italy and Greece to guarantee the freight market maximum capacity all year round.
The four times a week service will connect the Italian port of Ravenna with the Greek port of Corinth, and from January, it will also include a call at Igoumenitsa to cater for the Bulgarian and Turkish markets.
MD of Adriatic Lines, Simon Taylor, said: ??We have chosen the ships, ports, timetables and services that specifically cater for freight customers between Italy and Greece.
"We have been working on this concept for more than one year, and our research shows that we will be meeting the demand of freight customers."
"The decision to start in difficult trading times is further evidence that we believe our business model is sound and will succeed."
Adriatic Lines said that during the peak tourist season the current operators reduce the capacity available to freight.
The service will use two vessels capable of loading up to 165 lorries and trailers each. The first sailing on the service was on 24 October.
